They maintain a high art of metal art in South India.

When I lived in Kerala I could purchase several pieces, one or two pieces I had later to give away - to my regret.

Ritual oil lamp made in bronce. I got the lamp 

in Kerala in 1965. - During a procession 

in the "Sree Poornathrayesa Temple"

of Tripunithura town such a lamp was carried 

in front of the procession. Look into Google 

for this temple and this procession with 11 elephants. 

The lamp is to be lit with 

oil plant oil (coco nut) or ghee. 

The total length from flame 

to tail is 48 cm.

A few detail pictures will follow.

 I would like to give the lamp a place more solemn than our library.
